Transportation Operations Management (TOM) oversees trailer yard operations at Fulfillment Centers, Sort Centers, and Cross Docks across Mexico, ensuring yard safety, efficient trailer movement, and guard shack operations management. TOM is the main focal point between Site Operations and the Transportation Network.
As a Transportation Area Manager, you will lead and supervise a team focused on yard operations, aligning Fulfillment Center operation with transportation execution. You will plan and manage yard capacity, drive high safety standards, and own area performance metrics. This role is key to making Amazon more innovative and efficient, shaping the way goods move through the network and delivering exceptional experiences for our customers.
Activities
- Lead and supervise a team focused on yard operations, aligning Fulfillment Center operation with transportation execution
- Plan and manage yard capacity and trailer pool for designated site
- Drive high safety standards for all yard operations, ensuring safe work environment for Amazon and non-Amazon workers
- Audit and ensure compliance to all standard work, Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and environmental regulations
- Meet and exceed operational goals
- Own area performance metrics and communicate them to TOM and site leadership
- Collaborate with site leadership on quality and Customer Experience metrics, including root cause analysis of problem areas
- Streamline logistics in the operation through the implementation of standard work and team leadership
- Support and commit to all safety programs and OSHA compliance to ensure a safe work environment for all associates
- Proactively identify and lead process improvement initiatives and Lean tools
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- 3+ years of employee and performance management experience
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English, and have the ability to take direction in English
