About the role:

AI Engineer to build foundational infrastructure and deliver practical solutions. This role will work with business stakeholders, engineers, and data analysts to identify opportunities where AI can automate mortgage operations and enhance decision-making. The organization maintains a Microsoft Fabric data platform with existing machine learning capabilities and is expanding into AI-enabled workflow automation and intelligent process solutions.



Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with business units to identify and assess AI automation opportunities across mortgage operations
Contribute to AI architecture, development patterns, and tooling standards within the Azure ecosystem
Build proof-of-concept solutions to validate technical approaches prior to production implementation
Develop AI-enabled applications using .NET (C#) or Python integrated with Azure AI services
Leverage the Microsoft Fabric data platform and existing machine learning models to access and prepare data for AI solutions
Evaluate Azure-native services against third-party tools and provide recommendations to the team
Integrate AI capabilities with mortgage technology systems including Encompass LOS and Blend POS
Document technical implementations, architectural decisions, and development patterns
Share knowledge and build collective AI capability across the technology team
Develop working knowledge of mortgage lending operations to ensure solutions address business requirements
Collaborate with engineering leadership and senior technical staff on architectural proposals and implementation strategies


Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
3+ years of software engineering experience with demonstrated AI/ML application development
Proficiency in Python or .NET/C# for application development
Hands-on experience with cloud AI services (Azure AI preferred; comparable platforms such as AWS SageMaker or GCP Vertex AI acceptable)
Experience building applications that consume AI/ML capabilities via APIs, SDKs, or similar integration methods
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with ambiguous requirements and complex problem spaces
Proven track record of balancing solution quality with delivery timelines
Experience with Azure AI services including Azure OpenAI, Document Intelligence, Cognitive Services, and Azure Machine Learning
Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or comparable modern data platforms
Knowledge of large language model application patterns, prompt engineering, and retrieval-augmented generation architectures
Experience with workflow automation platforms such as Power Automate, n8n, Zapier, or Make Understanding of API development and enterprise system integration patterns
Exposure to MLOps practices, model governance, or AI lifecycle management
