Primary Purpose

This key manager role in the Controller’s organization manages members of the Accounting Research team, overseeing the accounting support of all three SI business lines, including both in the US and Mexico. This function will support the technical accounting function providing input and analysis into the structuring and accounting for complex and non-routine transactions to ensure that financial information, disclosures and documentation is accurate and in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.



Responsibilities

Technical accounting - Manages the technical accounting support related to complex and non-routine transactions for the C-level executives, CFO and Controller to ensure that financial information is accurate and in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS, including the analysis of accounting principles and assessment of accounting impacts; manages the workflow associated with technical accounting, specifically identification of potential issues, accounting research, internal and external discussions, documentation and finalization of related accounting positions and conclusions in order to ensure financial integrity and accurate reporting of financial results.
Partner with the SI executive leadership team and other business functions on structuring complex and non-routine transactions, playing a critical role supporting the Controller’s organization in business and project development across all SI business lines.
Partner cross functionally within the organization to support a growing SI business, including coordination with the planning, treasury and economic modeling folks, to ensure accurate accounting information and assumptions.
Financial reporting – Assists in specific issues impacting the compilation and preparation of financial statements and related disclosures for public and non-public reporting purposes in compliance with GAAP and SEC rules and regulations (10Q/10K); reviews financial information monthly and financial statements and footnotes support on a quarterly basis; coordinates information and updates to and from executive management and other departments; provides periodic review of financial statement analytics; manages subsidiary stand-alone audits, as needed.
Directs and participates, as appropriate, the hiring and promoting of employees, the training and development of management and staff (when appropriate), the assignment, direction and review of their work, and compliance with corporate policies and initiatives.
Performs certain other responsibilities of Controller, Assistant Controller, and Director of Technical Accounting in his/her absence (e.g., lead team meetings, stand-in when needed, managerial administrative responsibilities, etc.); performs other executive level duties as assigned.


Education

Bachelor´s Degree in Finance, accounting, systems, or related business administration field.
10 + Progressive accounting and/or finance experience with increasing leadership responsibility.
Knowledge of advanced accounting and financial theory normally acquired through graduate level coursework or professional experience.
Demonstrated track record of strategic thinking, innovation and leadership; including executive presence.
Previous experience or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience presenting to all levels of management on technical accounting matters.
In depth experience in US GAAP and technical accounting matters.
Ability to read, write and speak in Spanish.
Energy industry experience.
