POSITION: INTERN ANALYST OR ANALYST AT HPL.LLC BASED IN MEXICO

HPL (hplllc.com) is a sustainable finance consulting firm based in Connecticut, United States, with the mission to accelerate capital flows to support the sustainability agenda. Our firm has over six years of experience providing sustainable finance advisory and has executed 56 projects in 19 countries. HPL has provided its services to a wide range of entities in the sustainability ecosystem, such as development banks, financial institutions, investors, governments, corporates, NGOs, and academic institutions. Our projects are mainly concentrated in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) and we are expanding our reach to other Emerging Markets.

Our advisory services include:
1. Thematic Structuring: HPL supports issuers to prepare their green, social, sustainability, and sustainability-linked debt instruments.
2. Sustainable Finance Strategy: HPL provides advisory to financial institutions to develop a sustainable finance strategy through product development.
3. ESG Investing: HPL supports funds to develop policies, ESG integration strategies, and identify opportunities.
4. Market Development: HPL publishes public and internal market and sectoral guidance reports on sustainable finance.

Role description:
The intern/analyst will play a very important role within the team, working closely with senior team members to facilitate business development and advisory activities for the group. Responsibilities include, among others:
- Support commitments related to consultancy projects by conducting research, synthesizing information, comparative studies, and preparing reports related to the promotion and progress of sustainable finance in LAC.
- Support business development activities such as prospecting, industry and market research, pitch preparation, and other preliminary work in order to achieve business with existing clients, and new agreements with potential clients.
- Analyze and prepare reports on market conditions and trends for green, social and sustainability bonds and other sustainable finance market trends.

Qualifications:
We seek a candidate with a unique blend of interpersonal and analytical skills, who can leverage both qualitative and quantitative resources to understand complex financial situations and present solutions. Specific qualifications include:
- Student in the last year or graduate with up to 2 years of work experience in careers related to: Industrial/Environmental Engineering, Economics, Finance, Law, International Relations, Data analytics and others.
- Interested in developing experience in sustainability applied to the world of finance.
Coachable professional with good “business sense” and energetic/dynamic and motivated by the prospect of building a company.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player. The job is mostly remotely with a distributed team in different geographical locations.
- English and Spanish are required. Portuguese or French is an advantage.
